Based on the analysis of current trends in the use of generative artificial intelligence technologies, the article substantiates the need for legal regulation of the use of synthetic data in finance. The foreign experience of using synthetic data by public authorities in the field of finance is considered. It is noted that the current strategic planning documents do not meet modern challenges regarding the use of synthetic data. The authors substantiate the conclusion that it is necessary to establish legal principles for the use of synthetic data by public authorities in the field of finance.
