The special procedure for appointing a person to a judicial position is a significant legal procedure that confirms both the high status of the servants of Themis and the high responsibility of judges in the administration of justice. As part of the implementation of measures preceding and accompanying the very fact of granting judicial powers to a person, both the bodies of the judicial community and the Head of State, who, by virtue of the Constitution of Russia, has the right to appoint judges, play a significant role. The article discusses the issue of the regulatory regulation of the procedure for reassigning judges of federal courts to other judicial positions, as well as the powers of the qualification boards of judges when considering the reassignment of a person who already has judicial status. The issue of the possibility of normative consolidation of the powers of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation to make decisions on the reassignment of judges to other judicial positions is being discussed.
