| This article examines the letters of Israeli Prime Minister D. Ben-Gurion sent to US President John F. Kennedy in
1962–1963. It systematizes Ben-Gurion's foreign policy and military-political ideas addressed to the American admin
istration regarding the Middle East settlement. The article analyzes the Prime Minister's proposals for strengthening
security of the State of Israel and increasing the potential of the Israel‘s Defense Forces. It states that the guiding prin
ciple of Israel's policy towards Arab countries was expressed by the formula: "peace for Israel is achieved through
strength." Ben-Gurion's diplomatic initiatives are examined, in particular, his draft Soviet-American declaration, which
could have been signed by John F. Kennedy and Nikita S. Khrushchev, and which would guarantee the territorial in
tegrity and borders of the countries in the region. The article also examines the Israeli Prime Minister's stand on the
development of nuclear research and the nuclear reactor in Dimona. |
