| The purpose of this article is to determine the functions of place names in a literary text (based on the material of E.
Vodolazkin's novel "Brisbane"). The purpose defined the objectives of the study: to systematize toponyms in the ono
mastic system of the novel; to study the meaning of the chronotope in the composition of the novel; to identify the func
tional purpose of the Brisbane toponym, which was included by the author in the title of the novel. When solving the
tasks defined in the work, the following research methods were used: a descriptive method used to systematize linguis
tic material and interpret its features; A method of contextual analysis for analyzing the content of a text, identifying its
semantic elements and explaining their meaning and functions through an analysis of the contexts of their use. The
scientific novelty lies in the application of a functional approach to the study of place names. As a result of the re
search, it was found that the onomastic vocabulary (toponyms) of the work plays an important role in plotting and char
acter development. The use of toponyms in the text of the work is associated with the themes of identity search,
memory and loss, which opens up new horizons for text analysis. |
