Abstract
The article investigates the systemic influence of phonetic changes on the evolution of the lexico-grammatical sys tem of the French language in a diachronic perspective. The main focus is on the theoretical aspects of the interaction between phonetic and lexico-grammatical processes, examined through the lens of key linguistic concepts. The study analyzes the mechanisms of linguistic compensation, transformation of grammatical structures, and the formation of stable lexical zones under the influence of phonetic shifts. The research is based on the principles of historical linguis tics, including the neogrammarian approach and the theory of functional load, which helps to reveal the systemic nature of language changes. Special attention is paid to the dialectic between innovations and the preservation of archaic ele ments in the language system. The results confirm the concept of the cascade nature of language evolution, where pho netic transformations act as the primary link in the chain of structural changes. The theoretical significance of the study lies in the development of a comprehensive model for analyzing the mutual influence of different levels of the language system, which opens new perspectives for studying similar processes in other Romance languages.
