The key condition for achieving or maintaining a company’s competitive advantage is to formulate an appropriate strategy. Some of the best-known tools for making strategic decisions include the methods of BCG, General Electric, McKinsey and PIMS. The SPACE model that was comparatively recently proposed in literature helps to overcome the limitations of these approaches. The main purpose of this paper is to propose an adaptation of the SPACE model as a tool for strategic decision-making in various sectors of the economy and to apply it for the Volga Federal District.
