The article examines the phenomenon of remote family which has arisen on the territory of the former USSR. Circumstances of modern remote families’ formation, their main risks and prospects are considered. Based on the materials of a series of author's research, problems of remote families functioning are considered from the point of view of the main actors: husbands, wives, children and other relatives. Typical problems of remote families are considered: socialization of children, unity, and lack of communication. The author's view of the problem of social support of remote families is presented.
