We discuss the relationship between classroom and extracurricular (independent) work of students in the study of the humanities using the project method. Special attention is given to the use of information and communication technologies in teaching the humanities at the university. The results are presented and discussed of experimental work on the assessment of certain aspects of education informatization by students, the use of the project method when teaching the humanities, sciences and technical disciplines in the university.
