The aim of the methodological system of mathematical functional literacy development is to ensure continuity in teaching mathematics to elementary and middle school students as well as to achieve learning outcomes corresponding to modern requirements in preparing students. To achieve these objectives it is necessary to update approaches to designing classes. At the beginning of the 5th school year, the design is focused on educational diagnosis, motivating students to assess the material acquired in primary school and improving their mathematical techniques.
