This article presents our analysis of educational integration of children with special needs in the Saratov region. Its scholarly novelty consists in assessing the potential of the regional model of cooperation between special and general education secondary schools in supporting social and educational integration of children with developmental disorders. Empirical research was conducted by the method of semi-structured interview (N=8; 2014) with the experts having professional experience in the sphere of integrated education. The study showed that cooperation between the two types of schools (general education and special) aimed at bringing their conditions closer to the implementation of integrated education can reduce negative effects of spontaneous integration, can help to develop flexible models of cooperation between schools and other institutions and has good prospects for development.
