The aim of the paper is to study the transformation of the social mechanism of interrelation between professional self-determination and professional career in Russian society. The paper considers the concept of the social mechanism of social processes interrelation and shows its application in the analysis of the interrelation between professional self-determination and professional career processes. The author highlights key elements in the structure of the mechanism: social-professional structure, social institutes of employment and education, career strategy. Some specific features of the transformation of the social mechanism of interrelation between professional self-determination and professional career in Russian society in the 1990s and 2000s have been identified.
