The article presents the outcomes of the Joint European Tempus Project “Enhancement of Russian creative education: new Master program in Digital Arts in line with EU standards”. It follows the main tendencies in the development of joint MA degree programs. The emphases are on the ESG-based model of quality assurance both at the institutional and program levels. We concentrate on the analysis of QA system in joint Russian-British degrees in two aspects: with respect to the revised version of Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG, May 2015) and with respect to Russian and British national legislation and standards. The importance of implementation of ESG in Russian QA system for joint degree programs is substantiated. We provide a comparative analysis of ESG and Russian QA system and identify the main problems and challenges.
